Oso Bears

In the summer of 2019, Chloe Quigley (COL ’21) worked as the primary coordinator and developer for Oso Bears. Oso is a microenterprise spearheaded in 2018 through a SIPS grant that employs twelve women in the garbage dump communities of Guatemala City to hand-make stuffed teddy bears. These teddy bears are then sold to global partners which empowers Oso’s employees to make double their community’s average income. 

In her support of Oso, Chloe sold teddy bears to customers, reached out to community partners to host events, coordinated with current and potential partner organizations, and managed the overall marketing and structural development of the program. She will continue dedicating her time and efforts to making Oso more sustainable and a better source of dignified employment for women in Guatemala City
