Independent Research Initiatives: Alyssa and Sarah

Alyssa and Sarah travelled to Cote d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso this summer to carry out individual research projects on innovation in the region with the guidance of Fr. Francois Kaboré.

Alyssa’s research centered on identifying barriers faced by female entrepreneurs and developing policy recommendations to address these issues. She identified several cultural factors that often inhibited businesswomen as well as a lack of access to funding.

Sarah’s research focused on sustainable farming and the role of the private sector in creating agricultural innovations. After meeting with farmers in the region, she is currently developing several policy recommendations for farmers in the region.
